Founded by Nicole Harris, Solv draws on her more than 25 years of experience in journalism, public relations and strategic communications. Harris first worked as a journalist and TV anchor before turning her expertise toward helping organizations tell their stories and build lasting reputations. What is your business called and what does it do?
Solv Communications is a strategic PR, reputation management and AI visibility firm. We help organizations build trust, get noticed and protect their reputation, especially when things change or go wrong.
What made you want to do this work?
I spent more than 15 years as a journalist and TV anchor, so I saw firsthand how powerful communication can be. I wanted to use that experience to help organizations tell their stories, earn trust and navigate tough moments.
What problem did you want to solve with the business?
Too many great organizations struggle to communicate their value or only think about reputation when there’s a crisis. We help them be proactive, visible and trusted before they need to be.
That’s more important than ever in the age of AI. As people become increasingly skeptical of what they see online and are flooded with generic, AI-generated content, the challenge isn’t just being visible. It’s being trusted.
Our goal is to help organizations rise above the noise by building reputations that are credible, distinctive, authentic and visible, so they are not only seen, but trusted by the people who matter most, wherever they’re looking for answers.
Who are your clientele/demographics?
We work with businesses, associations, nonprofits and leaders across industries – from agriculture and construction to healthcare, technology, hospitality and professional services.

We provide strategic communications, PR, reputation management, crisis communications, media training and AI visibility services. Training and consulting as a strategic communications, reputation management and AI visibility firm is how we work. We work locally and nationally.

Everywhere! Every organization needs to communicate. And you’ll find us right here in Winnipeg, working with organizations locally and across Canada, including Red River Co-op, Stella’s Restaurants, the Winnipeg Art Gallery, Cereals Canada and the Canadian Canola Growers, to name a few.
What is the best question a prospective customer could ask a member of your profession when comparing services? Give the answer as well.
“Will you just get us media coverage, or will you help us build a reputation?” The best PR goes beyond publicity. It builds credibility, trust and long-term visibility.
What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?
The best part is seeing an organization go from overlooked to recognized and trusted. The worst part? Crisis calls at 7 a.m.!
What is your favourite joke about your own profession?
So, reputation management is just making people look good, I wish! Sometimes it’s more like being a therapist, detective and firefighter, all before breakfast.
