Must Be Nice Indigenous Comedy Tour Brings Two Nights of Comedy to Winnipeg

Winnipeg will get two nights of Indigenous comedy later this month as the Must Be Nice Indigenous Comedy Tour finally makes its way to Manitoba.

The two night showcase will take place August 28 and 29 at Devil May Care Brewing Company and will feature a different lineup of comedians and headliners each night. Designed as a mini festival, the event will bring together Indigenous comedians from across Treaty territories, with performers ranging from experienced comics who have spent more than nine years on stage to first time performers.

Must Be Nice Indigenous Comedy Tour

The Must Be Nice Indigenous Comedy Tour has spent the last year bringing shows to communities throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta. Now, the tour is expanding into Manitoba, giving Winnipeg audiences the opportunity to experience the showcase for the first time.

The event highlights a broad range of Indigenous comedic voices and experience levels. Rather than focusing solely on established performers, Must Be Nice gives newer comedians the opportunity to share the stage alongside comics with years of experience.

The first night, taking place August 28, will be headlined by Jeff Gobeil and Kaitlynn Brightnose, with Chief Joe, Issa Nixen, Noah Robinson, Brittany Reilly, Brady Holm and Shawn Cuthand also scheduled to perform.

The following night, August 29, will feature Stephan Meechas and Sherry McKay as headliners, joined by Nova Fox, Bradley Mink, Taylor Paige, Jordon Weenie and Danny Knight.

With two completely different lineups over two nights, Winnipeg comedy fans can attend either show or make a weekend out of it and catch both.

The Winnipeg event is being presented as a mini festival and represents the tour’s first stop in Manitoba after a year of performances across Saskatchewan and Alberta. The format will give audiences the opportunity to see a mix of comedic styles, perspectives and performers at different stages of their careers.

The lineup is currently tentative and may change closer to the event, although organizers say they will do their best to keep attendees updated about any changes.

For Winnipeg audiences looking to discover Indigenous comedians from across Treaty territories, the Must Be Nice Indigenous Comedy Tour will bring two nights of live stand up to the city and add another unique event to Winnipeg’s late summer entertainment calendar.
