“A Day in the Life” with: Visual Artist Lisa Whitehouse

Lisa Whitehouse is a wildlife artist known for her bright and colourful paintings of pets and wildlife. She uses expressive brushstrokes and abstract marks to bring to life the personalities of her subjects. Lisa’s love of animals has always been evident in her art. Growing up, she would paint wolves, lions and bears on her bedroom walls and was rarely seen without a sketchbook in hand. It wasn’t until she became a Mom that she took the leap and pursued Art full-time. Her work can now be seen in homes and businesses around the world.

Which ’hood are you in?

I live in Lindenwoods, about 2 blocks from where I grew up. I love the neighbourhood for its familiarity, its proximity to Fort Whyte, and the ability to walk to my dad’s or my sister’s, who live only minutes away.

What do you do?

I spend most days in my home studio, painting. But being a business owner means that I am also a videographer, accountant, social media manager, and so much more. When I’m not painting or posting, I can be found playing with my kids, lazing with my Dog Luna or gardening.

What are you currently working on?

I am currently working on a show for A Little Art Boutique in July 2025. I am so excited to be hosting my first solo show, where I can showcase an array of local wildlife.

Each year, I take on a number of commissions which keep me very busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Where can we find your work?

I sell in over 80 retail locations across Canada and the US, but the best way to find all of my work in one place is via my website.
