Recipe for Mac and Cheese Pizza

Mac and Cheese Pizza

Ingredients:

  • 1 box stovetop macaroni and cheese
  • 2 tbsp local unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp local milk
  • 2 large naan or flatbread rounds
  • ¾ cup pizza sauce or crushed tomato passata
  • 1½ cups local shredded cheddar or cheese blend (mozzarella + cheddar works well)
  • 2 pre-cooked sausages (e.g., turkey, chicken, or mild Italian), sliced
  • 1 small red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small jalapeño, finely chopped (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment or foil.
  2. Prepare the mac and cheese according to package instructions, using the butter and milk to combine with the cheese mix. Set aside once creamy and thick.
  3. In a pan over medium heat, lightly brown the sliced sausage until caramelized. Set on a paper towel to drain excess grease.
  4. Place flatbreads on the baking sheet.
  5. Spoon a layer of pizza sauce onto each, leaving a bit of edge around the rim.
  6. Add a generous scoop of macaroni and cheese on top of the sauce.
  7. Sprinkle sausage slices, chopped red pepper, and jalapeño (if using) over the mac.
  8. Finish with a layer of shredded cheese.
  9. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling and the edges of the flatbread are crisp.
