Bland are a post-punk band from Winnipeg playing fast, slightly off-kilter songs built on jagged guitars, driving rhythms, and vocals that land somewhere between comedy and collapse. Their debut EP, Consumables, captures the nervy energy of a band that feels both familiar and entirely their own – while being impossible to ignore onstage.
‘Consumables’ hints at the everyday fixations people cling to in an effort to make life feel less dull. Whether it’s routines, vices, or distractions, the EP captures the restless energy behind those small attempts at meaning. It’s a strong first statement from a band still figuring things out but already sounding sure of themselves.
‘Panacea’, the first single and music video off of ‘Consumables’, is a driving, high-energy track that veers into psychedelic territory halfway through. The song’s title refers to a cure-all, and the lyrics trace the different ways people search for something that might fix them. It doesn’t offer answers; just a reflection of the search itself.

EP or LP?
We’ve only released an EP so far, but overall, we’re more drawn to the LP format. That said, Courtney Barnett’s A Sea of Split Peas (the double EP) is one of our favourites.
Early bird or night owl?
Most of the band are early birds, but Kristian (bass) is definitely the night owl.
Road or studio?
We haven’t hit the road yet, but we love the studio. Creating something and listening back, at least for the first few listens, is one of the most rewarding parts of being in a band.
Any shows or albums coming up?
We’re playing February 13 at Festival du Voyageur in Winnipeg. It’ll be our biggest show to date, and we’re really looking forward to it.
