My Digital Life: Content Creator Deepika Jaskirat

For Deepika Jaskirat, content creation started as a way to build something meaningful and create an identity entirely her own. Since launching her beauty and fashion platform in 2018, she has grown a loyal audience through skincare, makeup, and lifestyle content that blends creativity, honesty, and personal connection — while collaborating with major global beauty brands including Armani Beauty, YSL Beauty, L’Oréal, and Maybelline.

What is your channel called and what is it about?

@deepika_jaskirat_, about Beauty and fashion

When did you start it? What motivated you at the beginning?

I started content creation in 2018, driven by a deep desire to build something of my own and to be recognized for it. Coming from a middle-class background where content creation was not a common path, it felt like stepping into something completely different and uncertain. What motivated me was the urge to do something unique, to express my creativity, and to create an identity that stands out instead of simply following what everyone around me was doing.

From a young age, I was always aware of how easily people can be forgotten over time, and that thought stayed with me. It pushed me to create something meaningful that reflects who I am and leaves a lasting impression. Content creation became that space where I could connect with people, share my perspective, and build something that carries my name and my work forward in a way that feels purposeful and memorable

Who were you inspired by? Any influences?

When I started, I honestly did not even know what content creation or influencing really was, and I was not aware of any big creators or industry names. I did not have guidance or exposure to that world, I simply began creating in a way that felt natural and right to me. It might sound a little funny, but my early inspiration actually came from watching television, especially reality shows. Seeing ordinary people step into the spotlight, gain recognition, and completely transform their lives stayed with me and quietly influenced how I viewed opportunities.

That idea, that someone can start from a normal background and build something meaningful and visible, really motivated me in the beginning.

How would you describe your audience?

My audience mainly falls within the 18 to 35 age group and includes people who are genuinely interested in beauty, especially Korean beauty, makeup, and fashion. They are not necessarily professionals or makeup artists, but everyday individuals who are curious, learning, and exploring. Many of them are beginners who want to understand makeup better, try skincare, and deal with common concerns like acne and other skin issues. Through the kind of questions and interactions I receive, I can see that they trust my content as a guide while they build their own routines and confidence.

Along with beauty and fashion enthusiasts, a significant part of my audience also consists of students, homemakers, and individuals who are inspired to start their own journey in content creation. Since I also share insights and sessions around content creation, they follow me not just for recommendations but also for learning and motivation. Overall, my audience is diverse but connected by a shared interest in self-growth, creativity, and building confidence through beauty and content creation.

What is your creative process? Do you have people who work with you?

My creative process is very independent and personal. I primarily work alone, which allows me to have full creative control over my content, from ideation to execution. I work from home and have my own dedicated studio space where I shoot and edit my content. At the same time, I love travelling, so I often create content on the go as well, which adds variety and freshness to my work.

How do you monetize your content? Do you also have another job?

Content creation is my full-time profession and my primary source of income. I collaborate with global beauty and fashion brands, creating content that features their products in an authentic and engaging way for my audience. These collaborations are on a paid basis and are aligned with my niche and audience interests, which helps me deliver strong value to the brands I work with.

In addition to brand partnerships, I also earn through teaching content creation. I conduct sessions a few times throughout the year, usually every few months, where I guide and mentor aspiring creators. I have worked with a significant number of students, and this has become another meaningful and consistent part of my income.

What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?

The best part of what I do is that content creation is my passion, and turning that passion into my profession feels like a dream. I get to express myself creatively, connect with my audience, and build something that truly represents me. It also gives me the freedom to work on my own schedule, create from my home studio, and even travel while working, which makes the entire experience very fulfilling and meaningful.

The challenging part is that content creation can sometimes feel like a constant race, especially when it comes to engagement, views, and staying relevant. There are also moments while working with brands where creative freedom can be limited, and I strongly value honesty in my content. In such cases, I choose to step back from collaborations that do not align with my values, which can be difficult but necessary to maintain trust with my audience.

What are your future plans for your channel?

My future plans for my channel are to expand and evolve while staying true to my niche. Until now, I have primarily worked with Korean skincare and global skincare brands, building a strong foundation in the skincare space. Recently, I have started collaborating with makeup brands and have received great opportunities to work with well-known names like Armani Beauty, YSL Beauty, L’Oréal, and Maybelline. This has given me the confidence to explore the makeup space more seriously and grow in that direction.

Moving forward, I aim to create a balanced presence across skincare and makeup while continuing to deliver high-quality, engaging content for my audience. I also plan to collaborate more with Canadian brands and strengthen my connection with my audience by creating content that feels more personal, relatable, and valuable to them.
