I have admired Christine Seaver’s art for three decades. She is always evolving, always creating work that is as pleasing to the eye as it is to the soul. From colourful flora and fauna to striking portraits of people and animals rendered in beautiful shimmering colours, she pours love into every aspect of her creative journey.
Christine’s portraits move me deeply. I love her wide-ranging perspective, from the domestic to the natural world, and the respect and dignity she brings to every subject. I always look forward to seeing new works and discovering how she captures the essence of her subjects, particularly the way she weaves underlying history into her paintings through words and personal symbols.
Nature is a major thread in Christine’s practice. Her paintings of flowers, trees, swans, and birds are a delight, and her vintage-inspired hand-painted wooden pendants featuring ladyslippers and ferns are utterly charming. Her hand-printed fabric bookmarks are wonderful to own. On the handcraft side, she also makes beautiful macrame plant hangers, stunning wall hangings, and earrings.
Christine’s studio space blooms with a wide spectrum of work that is truly inspirational. She is a dedicated artist brimming with wit and creative fire, and I feel lucky to have some of her art in my home. Yes, it’s true — I’m a fan.

Which ‘hood are you in?
I live in Winnipeg, MB, currently in the Meadows West area. Starting July 8th, 2026, we will be moving to the Fort Garry area in the south end of the city. My studio is located in the West End in a four-storey old brick building, also known as ARTlington Studios, a community of local artists.
What do you do?
I draw and paint in acrylic and oil, as well as mixed media. I specialize in portraiture, nature, figurative work, wild birds, and pet portraiture, working on canvas, wood panel, and paper. I also do my own nature photography to use as reference for paintings and series. In addition to painting, I make macrame wall hangings and plant hangers, knotting cords from raw jute to cotton and adding beads and driftwood.
What are you currently working on?
I am currently working on two paintings and a wall hanging. One is an acrylic pet portrait on canvas of a dog named Rue. The other is an acrylic painting on wood panel based on one of my own photographs of a small songbird in branches.
