Mac and Cheese Pizza
Ingredients:
- 1 box stovetop macaroni and cheese
- 2 tbsp local unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp local milk
- 2 large naan or flatbread rounds
- ¾ cup pizza sauce or crushed tomato passata
- 1½ cups local shredded cheddar or cheese blend (mozzarella + cheddar works well)
- 2 pre-cooked sausages (e.g., turkey, chicken, or mild Italian), sliced
- 1 small red bell pepper, diced
- 1 small jalapeño, finely chopped (optional)
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment or foil.
- Prepare the mac and cheese according to package instructions, using the butter and milk to combine with the cheese mix. Set aside once creamy and thick.
- In a pan over medium heat, lightly brown the sliced sausage until caramelized. Set on a paper towel to drain excess grease.
- Place flatbreads on the baking sheet.
- Spoon a layer of pizza sauce onto each, leaving a bit of edge around the rim.
- Add a generous scoop of macaroni and cheese on top of the sauce.
- Sprinkle sausage slices, chopped red pepper, and jalapeño (if using) over the mac.
- Finish with a layer of shredded cheese.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling and the edges of the flatbread are crisp.
