Guy Jukes doesn’t need much runway. Built on the kind of tight, precise comedy that lands before you see it coming, his sets move fast, hit hard, and leave just enough room for the audience to wonder whether they should be laughing. Somewhere between clever and deeply inadvisable, Guy has quietly become one of the sharper voices working the Western Canada circuit — and he’s only getting started. Currently on the road for the Looks Easy Online Secret Comedy Tour, he’s the kind of comedian who has already figured out exactly what he wants to say. He just hasn’t written the best of it yet.

How would you describe your comedy style?
One and two-liners. Shock and clever. No filler, no long setups — just the hit. If I haven’t made you uncomfortable and laughed in the same breath, I haven’t done my job.
Who are some of your influences?
Joe Rogan and Rodney Dangerfield. Rogan for the fearlessness and Dangerfield for proving you can be the funniest person in the room without ever taking up too much of it. Two completely different energies, but both taught me something about owning a stage.
Who was your favourite comedian growing up?
Jerry Seinfeld. The man could make nothing into something every single time. Watching him work made me realize that the joke isn’t always about the subject — it’s about the angle.
Who is your favourite comedian now?
Myself. I’m a work in progress, but I’m the most interesting project I’ve got.
What is your pre-show ritual?
Show up four hours early and make sure everything is in order. The room, the sound, the sight lines — all of it. By the time I step on stage I want zero surprises. The only unpredictable thing in the room should be the jokes.
What is your favourite place you have performed? Why?
Wascana Golf & Country Club. It’s the only way I get to play a private course — show up, make people laugh, and suddenly you’re walking the fairways with the members. Comedy opens doors that money apparently can’t.
What is your favourite bit you have written, and why were you proud of it?
My favourite bit is the one yet to be written. Everything I’ve done so far is just research.
What is your favourite medium for finding new comedians?
YouTube. No algorithms telling me what I want — I go looking myself. There’s something satisfying about finding someone great before anyone else does.
Tell us a joke about your city.
My jokes are a little too nasty for newsletters. Let’s just say the city gave me plenty of material and leave it at that.
Do you have anything to promote right now?
I’m currently on tour across Western Canada with the Looks Easy Online Secret Comedy Tour. Come out and see what I mean about the shock and clever thing — it reads better live.
Where can we follow you?
PAY IT FORWARD: Who is another local comedian we should know about?
Joe King is doing great work. And Dan Schmidt is someone you’ll want to know about sooner rather than later. Both worth your time.
